Educational Qualification
You must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute as of the crucial cutoff date.
Note for JSO: For the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) post, you need either a Bachelor's Degree with at least 60% in Mathematics at the 12th-standard level OR a Bachelor's Degree with Statistics as one of the elective subjects.

The recruitment happens over two key computer-based testing phases:
Tier-1 (Qualifying): Consists of 100 questions covering Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English, and General Awareness.
Tier-2 (Merit-Based): A comprehensive, multi-paper exam covering advanced concepts, alongside a mandatory Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) and a Computer Knowledge module.
SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam Pattern & Syllabus Breakdown
The Tier-1 exam is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions for a total of 200 marks. You will have exactly 60 minutes to complete the exam. Here is the section-wise weightage:

General Awareness: Current Affairs (last 6-8 months), Indian History & Culture, Geography, Indian Polity, Economics, and Basic Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
Quantitative Aptitude (Mathematics): Percentages, Ratio & Proportion, Averages, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Simple & Compound Interest, Basic Algebra, Geometry (Triangles, Circles), Mensuration, and basic Trigonometry.
English Comprehension: Reading Comprehension passages, Error Spotting, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms & Antonyms, Idioms & Phrases, One-word Substitution, and Active/Passive Voice.
How to Apply Online for SSC CGL 2026
The application process is entirely online. Please note that SSC has migrated to a new portal, so old registration IDs from the previous website will not work.
Complete One-Time Registration (OTR): Go to the official website at ssc.gov.in. (PDF) If you haven't used the new portal yet, click on "Register Now" to complete your OTR by entering your basic identity, contact details, and creating a new password.
Login and Access the Application Form: Log in using your newly generated OTR Registration Number and Password. Navigate to the "Live Applications" tab on your dashboard and look for Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2026. Click on "Apply".
Capture Your Live Photograph: Unlike previous years, you cannot upload an old passport photograph. You must use a webcam or your smartphone camera to capture a live photo. Ensure the background is plain or white, the lighting is sharp, and you are not wearing a cap, mask, or spectacles.
Upload Signature and Verify Details: Upload a scanned copy of your signature (JPEG format, 10 to 20 KB). Carefully preview all entered information, as corrections after submission require an extra correction fee.
Pay Fee and Submit Application: Pay the application fee of ₹100 online (via Net Banking, UPI, or Credit/Debit Cards) if applicable. Submit the form and download a PDF copy of your confirmation application printout for future reference.
