A Celebration of Culture and Nature: Union DoNER Minister Scindia to attend Cherry Blossom Festival




Shillong, Meghalaya – The stage is ready for the highly anticipated Cherry Blossom Festival 2024 in Meghalaya, where Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, will be present at the opening ceremony on November 15, 2024. This year's festival is poised to be a magnificent celebration of nature and culture, highlighting the blooming cherry blossoms that have made the region renowned for its seasonal beauty. The festival will span two days in the scenic Madan Kurkalang area, near Shillong, and is anticipated to attract a multitude of tourists from various parts of India and beyond.


The festival will showcase a dynamic array of live shows, featuring renowned international artists like Akon and Boney M, alongside local music performers showcasing Meghalaya's diverse cultural heritage. Attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a unique Japanese Village, offering authentic Japanese cuisine and crafts to celebrate the cultural fusion of India and Japan. The event will also offer various attractions including food markets, traditional dances, and art displays, ensuring that it is an essential event for both residents and visitors alike.



Aside from the Cherry Blossom celebrations, there is a notable transformation taking place in Meghalaya's tourism industry. The recently launched Tourism Buddy Scheme is set to assign 70 locally trained young individuals to various popular tourist spots such as Laitlum, Ward’s Lake, and Umiam Lake, enhancing the visitor experience through assistance and guidance. This initiative is part of the state's wider endeavor to enhance tourism infrastructure, with substantial investments directed towards establishing Meghalaya as a premier destination in Northeast India.
